While all pickups are multi-talented vehicles, the 2022 RAM 1500 outstrips them all in terms of refinement and luxury. Entry-level RAMs, while not lined with upscale features and opulent materials, still ride much smoother than other, fancier alternatives because of their sophisticated suspensions. Because of its capabilities, it will never be mistaken for anything but a pickup truck, but the fact that it can almost pass for a luxury vehicle makes it very special. Here, you’ll learn about the 2022 RAM’s updates, features, and benefits.

What’s New for 2022?

For the 2022 model year, RAM gives shoppers around Snyder, TX and Hobbs, NM additional options. The newest additions to the RAM 1500 line include a G/T option package for the Rebel and Laramie, a rough-and-tumble BackCountry Edition, and an ultra-luxe take on the Limited known as the 10th Anniversary Edition. The G/T comes with a cold-air intake, paddle shifters, and an upgraded exhaust system. The BackCountry Edition is an off-roading package that caters to those who prefer the Lone Star and Big Horn models. Finally, the 10th Anniversary Edition takes the Limited one step further with rich interior appointments, an exclusive paint color, and unique badging.

Transmission, Engine, and Performance

Among the 2022 RAM 1500’s trim levels, you’ll find V6 and V8 engines and smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic gearboxes. All engines receive assistance from a 48V hybrid system, but buyers have the option to order a 5.7L Hemi V8 with no electric support. For adventurous drivers, the Rebel offers a beefier look and the off-road capability to match. All RAM 1500 models have a smooth ride thanks to rear suspensions that use standard coil or optional air-ride springs, unlike the leaf springs found on some other truck models.

Payload and Towing

The 2022 RAM 1500 can pull up to 12,750 pounds and carry payloads up to 2320 pounds, putting it near the top of its class. Crew cab RAMs, including Rebels, can’t tow quite as much as extended quad cabs, but can still pull more than 11,500 pounds.

Comfort, Cargo, and Interior

On the inside, the 2022 RAM 1500 has plenty of passenger and cargo room. On higher trims, you’ll find creature comforts and upscale materials that make it feel more like a luxury car than a utilitarian truck. Most RAM models can be optioned with features such as panoramic sunroofs and heated, ventilated seats, while high-end models have leather seating and wooden trim pieces. As with most options in the full-size pickup segment, the RAM 1500’s crew cab is quite roomy. While short and long beds are available, the Quad Cab can only be had with a long bed.

Connectivity and Infotainment

RAM trucks have long led their class in terms of connectivity and infotainment features. The 2022 models continue that trend with an 8.4” or 12” touchscreen (which is available on all RAMs but the base model). These systems come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot. For Brownfield, TX and Lamesa Plainview, TX drivers who prefer analog controls, the RAM’s infotainment system also has hard buttons and physical knobs.

Driver Assistance and Safety Features

The 2022 RAM has a range of driver assistance features such as automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist. You’ll also find:

  • Optional rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring
  • Available auto-on high beams
  • Optional adaptive cruise control
