Jeep to Debut a New Inline-Six Engine Next MonthA new report states that Jeep will add an inline-six engine to its powertrain lineup. The addition should debut in April at the 2022 New York International Auto Show. The show runs from April 15-24, and many Jeep loyalists in Hobbs, NM, are excited to welcome this new engine because it's the first inline-six engine in Jeep's lineup since the 4.0L straight-six went on hiatus in 2006.
MoparInsiders released the report and stated the new engine would be offered in three power stages, and all configurations will have a 3.0-liter displacement. Additionally, it's speculated Jeep will release a plug-in hybrid with the GME-T6 engine next year.
The inline-six engine will work with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an eTorque high-voltage motor-generator with liquid-cooling technology. This should promise a smooth adventure across Lamesa for all drivers. Reports of Jeep offering straight-six models has been floating around the automotive industry for years, with the motor referred to as Tornado.
What's Expected at the 2022 Easter Jeep Safari Event?
Jeep has released several teasers about what's expected at the 2022 Easter Safari. The event takes place from April 9-17 on the trails at Moab. Jeep released an image of an SUV with Rubicon badging and an indication of a 20th Anniversary Edition of this trim. Since the Wrangler Rubicon first hit the market in 2003, there are rumors that the event will unveil a 20th Anniversary Wrangler Rubicon for 2023. There's also speculation that Jeep will debut a Grand Cherokee with a 4xe plug-in hybrid model.
